Karen Powell, a Hampton Roads native, is proud of her community. She divides her time between homes in Moyock and Corolla, NC and over 25 years has built, renovated, purchased, and sold homes in Virginia and North Carolina.
Prior to working in real estate full-time, Karen was an accomplished scholar and practitioner working for Fortune 500 companies. She held Executive roles in banking, operations, project management, and higher education. She served as the Technology and Program Management Executive in Mortgage Banking and held roles as Operations Executive, Process Design Executive, and Change Manager at Bank of America and Household Credit Services as an Operations Manager and Training Manager. Karen served as the Campus and Academic Director for University of Phoenix, Program Chair for the School of Business as well as the College of Security and Criminal Justice. She hired Faculty for both colleges and served as Faculty instructing graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Phoenix and Regent University.
Learning is a passion for Karen! She holds four degrees - a Bachelor's in Psychology, a Master's in Organizational Leadership, a Master's in Adult Education and Training, and a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership.
In her free time, Dr. Powell enjoys the Outer Banks, international travel, gardening, baking, and spending time in the community supporting local businesses. She is proud of her family, her husband of 34 years, Gill Powell, and her 21-year-old son Dylan, an Eagle Scout.
